No archetype is better than another.

Each one becomes exponentially more powerful when aligned with complementary strengths. A Visionary without a Builder has ideas that stay ideas. A Builder without a Visionary builds the wrong thing beautifully.

The blind spots below are not criticisms. They are the predictable cost of a strength taken to its edge — and they are precisely where someone else's natural behaviour completes yours.

Possibility

Visionary

Sees what could exist, before it is obvious to anyone else.

Visionaries recognise patterns, possibilities and opportunities early. They think in horizons rather than quarters, and they are usually describing something that does not exist yet — which is why they are often misunderstood before they are proven right.

Seeing where something is heading long before the data confirms it
Connecting unrelated ideas into a single direction
Giving people a reason to care about the work
Comfort with ambiguity and open questions

Recurring blind spots

Starting the next thing before the last one is finished
Underestimating what execution actually costs
Assuming others can see the picture you are describing
Impatience with process and detail

In a room, you are the one

Reframing the question everyone else is answering
Asking what this looks like in five years
Energised by a possibility nobody has named yet

Who completes you: the Builder, who turns the horizon into a roadmap, and the Entrepreneur, who decides which possibility gets resourced first.

Movement

Influencer

Moves people and ideas, and makes others want to participate.

Influencers build trust and create visibility. They know who should meet whom, they make ideas travel, and they turn a group of individuals into something that feels like a community. Their work is often invisible in the outcome and obvious in its absence.

Building trust quickly and keeping it over years
Translating a complex idea into something people repeat
Knowing who to introduce, and when
Creating momentum through other people

Recurring blind spots

Saying yes to more relationships than you can sustain
Visibility outpacing the systems behind it
Avoiding the conversation that would create friction
Giving generously without asking for anything back

In a room, you are the one

Noticing who has not spoken yet
Making the introduction nobody thought to make
Leaving with three follow-ups you actually intend to keep

Who completes you: the Builder, who gives your momentum something durable to run on, and the Visionary, who gives you a message worth carrying.

Execution

Builder

Turns ideas into reality, and reality into something repeatable.

Builders create the systems, processes, products and structures that make progress sustainable. They are the reason a good month becomes a good year. Where others see a finished launch, a Builder sees the machine that has to keep running afterwards.

Designing things that still work without you in the room
Spotting the failure point before it fails
Consistency over long periods

Refining something that should have shipped already
Undervaluing visibility and narrative
Absorbing work instead of delegating it
Resisting a direction change that is genuinely right

In a room, you are the one

Asking who owns it and by when
Quietly writing down what everyone just agreed
Uneasy when enthusiasm outruns the plan

Who completes you: the Influencer, who makes sure the work is seen, and the Visionary, who makes sure it is the right work.

Ownership

Entrepreneur

Turns opportunity into action, and accepts the cost of deciding.

Entrepreneurs make decisions, mobilise resources and accept uncertainty. They create forward momentum by taking responsibility for an outcome before anyone has guaranteed it. The weight they carry is usually invisible to everyone around them.

Deciding with incomplete information
Finding resources that were not obviously available
Taking responsibility rather than assigning blame
Turning a stalled conversation into a next step

Recurring blind spots

Carrying far too much alone, for far too long
Moving before the team has caught up
Treating asking for help as a weakness
Mistaking speed for progress

In a room, you are the one

Ending the debate with a decision
Volunteering to own the hardest part
Impatient with meetings that do not produce a next step

Who completes you: the Builder, who takes weight off your shoulders permanently, and the Influencer, who brings you the people you were too busy to go and find.

Why this matters

Different strengths. One direction.

Most people instinctively seek out others who think like them. It is comfortable, and it is why so many talented teams stall in the same place.

Vision without execution stays a conversation.
Execution without vision builds the wrong thing well.
Influence without structure burns out.
